What are inclusion companies?

Inclusion companies fulfil a very important social mandate and thus assume a special social responsibility: they undertake to fill between 30% and 50% of their jobs with particularly affected severely disabled people according to § 215 SGB IX. Inclusion companies thus realise inclusive and equal participation in the general labour market for severely disabled people with a special need for support.

How is inclusion implemented in AfB?

AfB is a wholly owned subsidiary of i500 gAG. Their common goal is to provide 500 people with disabilities throughout Europe with jobs subject to social insurance contributions. At present, about 45% of the 440 AfB employees are people with disabilities.
AfB has already received several awards for its inclusive business model. For example as the Sustainability Project (2019) with the Rudolf Freudenberg Prize (2018) and in 2017 with the Federal Republic of Germany's Medal of Merit for AfB founder and Managing Director Paul Cvilak.

What does " non-profit" mean?

Basically, non-profit status refers to an activity which in its effect serves the public good (according to § 52 of the German Tax Code). It is essentially defined by tax law. The charitable activity must be directly, unrestrictedly and permanently directed towards the public good and may only be carried out in an altruistic manner.

Why work with an inclusion company?

According to the Federal Statistical Office, Germany has 7.8 million severely disabled people (source: destatis, 2017). In a partnership with an inclusion company such as the AfB, Article 3 paragraph 3 of the Basic Law is supported. Here it says: "No one may be disadvantaged because of his or her disability. Inclusion companies do just that, because they ensure the professional participation of people with disabilities.
By reducing inequalities and promoting an inclusive and self-determined life for people with disabilities, you contribute to the achievement of the global sustainability goals, the so-called Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), within the framework of a cooperation with AfB. The SDGs were adopted by the United Nations and apply to all 193 member states.
